Best OTT Subscriptions in India (2026): Plans, Prices & Comparison

Last verified: 9 August 2026. Every official price on this page was read from the streaming service’s own India page or India help centre on that date. Prices in India change often — we re-check this page monthly.

Short answer

If you want one OTT subscription in India in 2026, JioHotstar Premium (₹2,199/year, about ₹183/month) gives you the most for the money — it is the only service that carries HBO Max, Peacock, Paramount and Disney content together, plus live cricket, in 4K on up to 4 screens.

If you want the most content for the least money, don’t buy single services at all — buy a bundle. Airtel Xstream Play at ₹149 for 30 days gives you 20+ OTT apps in one place, which is less than a single Netflix Mobile plan.

The rest of this page shows every current official plan, what each service is actually best at, and the honest limitations most comparison pages leave out.

This table shows official pricing charged by the platforms themselves. PremiumKing’s own prices are listed separately further down so the two are never confused.

Notes: JioHotstar also lists a Mobile tier (₹79/month, ₹499/year) in its January 2026 pricing announcement, but it does not appear on the desktop web paywall. Netflix per-tier specs were read from Netflix’s India help centre; Netflix’s India signup page did not expose a public plan grid on the date checked.

Why there is no Netflix buy link here. Netflix’s own terms say an account may not be shared outside your household, and Netflix does not run a reseller or affiliate programme in India. We would rather tell you honestly what Netflix costs and how its plans differ than sell you something that can stop working. Our Netflix pages are guides, not shops: Netflix plans in India, Premium vs Standard vs Basic, the password-sharing rules, and the legitimate ways to pay less.

Which OTT service is best? Picks by criteria

Best overall

JioHotstar Premium — ₹2,199/year. Criteria used: total catalogue breadth, video quality, number of screens, and cost per screen. It is the only India service carrying Disney, HBO Max, Peacock and Paramount libraries together, plus ICC events, IPL, WPL, Premier League and Wimbledon. At 4 screens it works out to about ₹46 per person per month if a family or four friends in one household share it — cheaper per head than any single-screen plan on this page.

Runner-up: Amazon Prime Annual ₹1,499, because the fee also covers unlimited fast delivery, Prime Music and Prime Reading. If you already shop on Amazon, the video is close to free.

Best for movies

Amazon Prime Video. Criteria: size of the film library, availability of recent theatrical releases, and 4K support. Prime Video has the deepest rental-plus-included film catalogue in India and streams in 4K UHD on the standard Prime plan. Budget the extra ₹699/year for the ad-free add-on if ads during films bother you — the base tier now runs them.

Netflix is the better pick if you specifically want original films and prestige international cinema rather than volume.

Best for Indian shows and regional content

SonyLIV for Hindi originals, ZEE5 for language depth. Criteria: number of original Indian titles and number of Indian languages served.

SonyLIV carries the strongest slate of Hindi originals and reality formats. ZEE5 wins on breadth of language — it sells dedicated Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Bangla+Odia and Hindi+Punjabi+Bhojpuri packs at ₹599/year each, which is the cheapest legitimate way into Indian-language content if you only watch one language. Buying just your language instead of All Access saves ₹900 a year.

Best for anime

Crunchyroll Mega Fan — ₹569/year. Criteria: size of anime library, how quickly episodes appear after the Japanese broadcast, and simultaneous streams. Crunchyroll simulcasts new episodes shortly after they air in Japan and has no ads on either paid tier. Take Mega Fan over Fan if more than one person watches — Fan is limited to a single device at a time. Note that the 6-device Ultimate Fan tier sold in the US is not available in India.

Netflix is a reasonable second for anime if you want dubbed, mainstream titles rather than the current season.

Best for 4K

JioHotstar Premium (₹2,199/year) and Netflix Premium (₹649/month). Criteria: genuine 4K delivery, HDR/Dolby Vision support, and how much of the catalogue is actually in 4K.

JioHotstar Premium is the value answer — 4K with Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos on 4 screens for less per month than Netflix Premium costs in one. Netflix Premium remains the most consistent 4K experience across a large catalogue. Two cautions: ZEE5’s 4K works only on 4K TVs and connected devices, not browsers, and sports is not delivered in 4K on ZEE5 at all.

Best for students

YouTube Premium Student — ₹89/month. Criteria: verified student discount available in India, and usefulness for study. It removes ads across YouTube, allows background play and downloads, and includes YouTube Music. Annual re-verification is required.

Two more worth knowing: Apple Music’s ₹69/month student plan includes Apple TV at no extra cost, which is the cheapest route to a video service in India. And if you split with friends in one home, JioHotstar Premium at 4 screens is about ₹46 each per month. Full detail in our guide to the best OTT subscriptions for students in India.

Best budget option

Apple TV at ₹99/month is the cheapest standalone video service with 4K HDR and 6 simultaneous streams. Per screen it is the cheapest premium service in India by a wide margin.

For catalogue-per-rupee, JioHotstar Super at ₹1,099/year (₹92/month) is unbeaten — full Hollywood and sport access in 1080p with ads.

Avoid this trap: paying ₹149/month for Netflix Mobile is ₹1,788 a year for 480p on one phone. JioHotstar Super costs less annually and gives you 1080p on a TV.

Best combination of services

Criteria: total coverage of Hollywood, Indian originals, regional content, sport and music, at the lowest annual cost.

The efficient stack for most people (about ₹3,700/year, roughly ₹308/month):

  • JioHotstar Premium ₹2,199/year — Hollywood, HBO Max, sport, 4K
  • Amazon Prime Annual ₹1,499/year — films, plus delivery and music

That covers most of what people actually watch. Add one of the following only if it matches you: SonyLIV ₹1,499 for Hindi originals, a ZEE5 language pack ₹599, Crunchyroll ₹469 for anime, or Apple TV ₹99/month.

The cheapest broad coverage: a bundle. Airtel Xstream Play is ₹149 for 30 days across 20+ apps (SonyLIV, Lionsgate Play, Hoichoi, ShemarooMe, Chaupal and more) on 2 screens, or ₹199/month with JioHotstar Super added, or ₹1,499 for a full year. Tata Play Binge sells Flexi Smart at ₹199/month for any 3 apps, Flexi Max at ₹299 for any 6, and Infinity at ₹399 for 37 apps on 4 devices. If you are paying for three or more services separately, a bundle is almost always cheaper. We compare every pack app by app in OTT bundles in India.

What OTT actually costs an Indian household in 2026

Buying the five most common services at their standard rates comes to roughly (see the full per-screen breakdown in OTT subscription cost in India):

  • Netflix Standard ₹499/month → ₹5,988/year
  • Amazon Prime Annual → ₹1,499/year
  • JioHotstar Premium → ₹2,199/year
  • SonyLIV Premium → ₹1,499/year
  • YouTube Premium Individual ₹149/month → ₹1,788/year

Total: about ₹12,973 a year, or ₹1,081 a month. Three habits cut that sharply, in order of impact:

  1. Pay annually, not monthly. JioHotstar Premium is ₹299/month but ₹2,199/year — annual saves ₹1,389, a 39% cut on the same plan.
  2. Share within your household. A 4-screen plan split four ways is a quarter of the price per person. This is allowed on every service on this page as long as everyone is in the same home.
  3. Rotate instead of stacking. Most services are month-to-month. Subscribe to one for the show you want, finish it, cancel, move to the next. Two services rotated all year beats five held all year.

Frequently asked questions

Which OTT subscription is best in India in 2026?

JioHotstar Premium at ₹2,199/year, judged on catalogue breadth, 4K quality and cost per screen. It is the only Indian service carrying Disney, HBO Max, Peacock and Paramount libraries together along with major live cricket.

Which is the cheapest OTT subscription in India?

Apple TV at ₹99/month is the cheapest standalone premium video service. For the most content per rupee, JioHotstar Super at ₹1,099/year works out to ₹92/month. Bundles go lower still: Airtel Xstream Play is ₹149 for 30 days across 20+ apps.

Is Netflix worth it in India in 2026?

It depends on how much you watch. Netflix Premium is ₹649/month for 4K on 4 screens — about ₹162 per person if four people in one household share it, which is competitive. Netflix Mobile at ₹149 is poor value: it is 480p on a single phone, and JioHotstar Super costs less per year for 1080p on a TV. India has no ad-supported Netflix tier and no Extra Member add-on, so those cheaper routes seen abroad are not options here.

Can I share my OTT account with family?

Within your own home, yes, on every service listed here, up to the screen limit of your plan. Outside your household is a different matter — Netflix’s terms state you may not share an account outside your household, and it detects this using IP address, device IDs and account activity. Netflix does not sell an Extra Member add-on in India, so there is no sanctioned way to add someone at another address.

Which OTT platform is best for live cricket?

JioHotstar. It carries ICC events, IPL and WPL. Super at ₹1,099/year is enough for 1080p; Premium at ₹2,199/year adds 4K and 4 screens. Be aware that ads continue to run during live sport on both tiers.

Which OTT service has the most Indian regional content?

ZEE5, by language count. It sells separate Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Bangla+Odia and Hindi+Punjabi+Bhojpuri packs at ₹599/year each. If you watch only one language, that single pack is much better value than the ₹1,499 all-languages plan.

Do OTT services in India show ads on paid plans?

Several do, and this catches people out. Amazon Prime Video runs ads on the standard Prime plan — removing them costs ₹699/year or ₹129/month extra. SonyLIV is ad-free only on Originals and Movies; sports and reality shows carry ads even on the ₹1,499 plan. JioHotstar Premium is ad-free except during live content. Netflix and Crunchyroll paid tiers are fully ad-free in India.

Is it cheaper to buy an OTT bundle?

If you want three or more services, usually yes. Airtel Xstream Play gives 20+ apps for ₹149/30 days on 2 screens, or ₹199/month with JioHotstar Super included. Tata Play Binge Infinity is ₹399/month for 37 apps on 4 devices. Buying those services separately would cost several times more. The trade-off is that bundles rarely include Netflix or Prime Video, and you get whichever apps the bundle carries rather than your exact choice.

Should I pay monthly or yearly?

Yearly, if you are confident you will keep the service. The saving is large: JioHotstar Premium is ₹299/month but ₹2,199/year — 39% less for the identical plan. The exception is a service you are subscribing to for one specific show, where a single month and a cancellation is cheaper.
